Internship:

  • Allow the candidate to assume the functions as a teacher only for a specified period of time, not to exceed three years

 

  •  Require the teacher to demonstrate satisfactory progress toward full certification as proscribed by the State

During the comprehensive coursework, questions from the TExES Study Guide pertaining to the Pedagogy and Professional Responsibilities (PPR) will be reviewed and assessed for knowledge and understanding.  Interns will meet 4 times during the academic year on Saturday's for 8 hour workshop's to discuss and review the following; Workshop: 1, Designing Instruction and Assessment to Promote Student Learning; Workshop: 2, Creating a Positive, Productive Classroom Environment; Workshop: 3, Implementing Effective, Responsive Instruction and Assessment, Workshop: 4, Fulfilling Professional Roles and Responsibilities.

Student interns are required to do an internship under a mentor teacher.  The mentor teacher will be assigned in cooperation between A Career in Education and the campus Principal. In addition and during the first year of internship the intern will be supervised by a highly qualified, experienced  Texas certified teacher. The supervisor will conduct periodic visits to critique the interns performance.  In the event the intern needs assistance the supervisor will be there to assist and model instruction, as well as implement effective classroom management.
